(Vrikshasana) – Challenges your stability and balance by strengthening your hip, knee, and ankle joints. Distribute your weight evenly on the ball and heel of the stabilizing foot. Keep your hip aligned and your core engaged. Turn the foot of the opposite leg out which opens up your hip. Lift the foot off of the floor only if that is right for you. Perhaps you will only lift the heal. Lightly hold on to a chair or countertop if necessary. Performing the pose with good form will develop strength and stability over time.
