Firelog pose is a seated pose that stretches the hips, groin, quads, and buttocks.  The position of the ankles also stretches the calves. Variations of the pose lengthen the spine, side of the waist, hip flexors, and low back. It also stimulates the abdominal organs. It is sometimes referred to as double pigeon.

The Sanskrit name,  Agnistambhasana, (agni = “fire” or “ignite”, stambh = “log” or statue” and asana = “pose”, firelog is considered an intermediate pose.

Focuses on strengthening muscles and increasing range of movement for daily life activities. We will use light hand-held weights (grab two water bottles, cans, rice, or beans, if you don’t have hand-held weights). We will also use a chair. The class will be 40 – 45 minutes.
