Teachers Triumph over Tough Transition
Teachers require a tremendous amount of stamina, patience, and perseverance to properly deal with the challenges that come with teaching our darling children. The teachers who work out regularly have more energy, focus and manage weight easier than those who don’t. Transitioning from a summer of flexibility to a back-to-school regimen can be quite challenging, but not impossible.
It may mean getting up a little early if you are a morning person, and getting 20 – 30 minutes in. Even if you get 1- minutes inconsistently, you are creating a healthy habit. An optimal time for many teachers to exercise is right after school. Since the gym is not yet crowded with the after-work crew, it could be a pit-stop on the way home. Otherwise, get a team of teachers together and exercise on school property. You can walk around the track or walk bleachers. You may need to be creative.
Overall, it will not be a perfect situation, but here are a few suggestions to stay fit during the school year:
- Make it a priority and exercise first thing in the morning or as soon as you get out of school if possible.
- Find a program or regimen that you like that can work into your schedule.
- Push through the temptation to skip it, and once you do, you will be glad you did.
- Stand at work whenever possible wearing appropriate shoes.
- Exercise while waiting for children at their after-school activities.
