Hanging from the ceiling, it can easily be gathered together in your hands, to make a swing that you can sit on or step in, for poses like warrior or tree. Yet when it is spread wide like a hammock, your body can fit inside like a cocoon. The yoga pose known as (floating) shavasana is then achieved by simply lying flat and relaxing in the hammock.
Hooping
Formally known as hula hooping, this energetic and fun form of exercise. Sometimes with weighed hoops, it can be done rhythmically. Not only is hooping done around the waist, it can also be done around the arms, legs, neck, shoulders, chest. Hooping for fitness burns calories improves cardiovascular health. Combining with other disciplines it also can improve core strength, flexibility, and balance.
Fencing
A mental and physical workout, using a sword to combat your opponent, you challenge your cardiovascular endurance, agility, and mental. There are three different weapons called a foil, a saber, and an epeé, that are used. I think of it as fighting with finesse. I haven’t tried it, but it looks like it would be challenging and fun.
Mini Trampoline
I love this one. You can do it at home and it doesn’t take up a lot of space. Sometimes called rebounders, they are great for getting a cardio workout without putting as much stress on your knees and back. Improves strength and balance. Daily practice of just a few minutes can also benefit the lymphatic system which helps fight bacterial and viral infections.
Pole Dancing
Wait! Wait! I’m not talking about becoming a stripper! However, this seductive still of exercise can be an incredible workout. You can tone and or lose weight, strengthen, and increase flexibility. You develop an incredible amount of upper body strength. You also strengthen your core and become tone. It will improve your cardiovascular endurance and can increase your self of awareness and confidence.
Pole Dancing
Whether you choose a combat self-defense style like Krav Maga, a more dance style like Brazilian Capoeira, a kick-based Korean style of taekwondo, or the Japanese martial arts style of Karate, or a half dozen others, you will challenge your speed, agility, increase confidence, flexibility.
Stroller Class
If you are a mom with a little one, stroller classes are a wonderful option for comradery and fitness. There is no need for childcare, and it is playful for the moms and the children. The stroller is incorporated into the exercise regimen for things like lunges, side stretches, and even crunches.
Rowing
I’m speaking of indoor rowing but there are certainly benefits to outdoor rowing as well. Rowing provides a great core workout and works your total body toning upper and lower body. Rowing is low impact and does not put stress on knees and back. It also improves heart health with cardiovascular activity.
Stand Up Paddle Boarding
This is another workout for total body benefits. You must engage your core. You will increase balance, upper body strength, cardiovascular health, and endurance. Since you are on the water, it can be very calming and reduce stress. These classes will more than likely be lessons and depending on where you live will be seasonal.
Indoor Cycling
You can burn a lot of classes in a spin class. They are low impact. You can control the intensity by increasing and decreasing your own resistance. Many classes over different music genres and styles. Some are more focused on music tempo while others take you on virtual destinations.
