Many of the foods eaten daily may be more addictive than crack cocaine!

We understand the dangers of smoking and alcohol and connect the relationship between those vices and the destruction they can cause.
But we often don’t equate that the dangers of eating certain foods can lead to a slow and miserable death.
However, because of the abundance of food and how aggressively it is marketed, we don’t seem to understand how damaging some of the food we love to eat can be.

If you have trouble losing weight, it may be because of an unhealthy gut.

The human body uses food as fuel or stores it as fat. At one time, we were hunters.   When food was available, the body would store what was needed for energy and store the excess for times of famine and scarcity.
Fast forward to life today. Many of the foods today contain substances the body does not recognize.   What the body doesn’t recognize, it stores as fat. Preservatives and processed foods are not recognized. Preservatives are had for the body to break down.

The American Diet is full of foods with preservatives.

In 2020 a McDonald’s hamburger went viral. It was unintentionally left in a coat pocket for 14 years.   When it was found, it was still intact. It had not degraded because of the preservatives. Not knowing how to process these foods, it is stored around the waistline.
Most foods that are not fresh and have a long shelf life contain preservatives. Consider eating more fresh fruits and vegetables to reduce the number of preservatives in your diet.

There are also a lot of sugars in processed foods, a cause of food addiction.

They are disguised by many names, including dextrose, fructose, galactose, glucose, lactose, maltose, and sucrose. When consumed in large quantities, these sugars can throw off the balance of bacteria in the gut.

Bacteria in the gut is normal. There are trillions, called the microbiome, and are affected by many things like diet and exercise. Candida is one of the bacterias. An imbalance of candida usually happens due to long-term antibiotic use, birth control use for years, and a diet high in refined sugars and processed carbohydrates.

Sugar promotes an overgrowth of candida because sugar is the candida’s primary source of fuel. Candida loves any form of processed sugar. This response contributes to the addictive behavior of literally not being able to eat just one. Processed sugar can cause this addictive quality in foods like white or brown, and any simple carbohydrates like white flour, white rice, chips, crackers, pasta, and noodles.

The life expectancy in the United States is lower than in other wealthy countries largely due to diet.

The benefits of gut health do more than lose weight. By reducing preservatives and sugar, you will also:

  1. Improve energy
  2. Improve gastrointestinal health
  3. Increase immune function
  4. Increase cognitive health
